Wedding season is in the air! Are you planning a wedding? If so, Susan Sarandon says do not take tips and cues from this onscreen, dysfunctional family in the new comedy movie The Big Wedding.

Weddings: a joyous occasion of uniting couples in matrimony. So why is it that when one thinks of planning one, feeling of chaos, stress and anxiety come to mind?

In their new comedy, The Big Wedding, an all-star stellar cast including Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Katherine Heigl, Amanda Seyfried, Topher Grace, Susan Sarandon, Robin Williams and Ben Barnes, prove that bringing a family together for wedding planning isn’t always easy.

The Griffins are about to find this out the hard way. Trying to survive a weekend wedding celebration that seems like a simple and happy occasion, turns out to be a full-blown family fiasco. To the amusement of their adult children and friends, long divorced couple Don and Ellie Griffin (De Niro and Keaton) are once again forced to play the happy couple for the sake of their adopted son’s (Barnes) wedding to the beautiful Missy (Seyfried) after his ultra conservative biological mother unexpectedly decides to fly halfway across the world to attend.

With all of the wedding guests looking on, the Griffins are forced to confront their past, present and future - and hopefully avoid killing each other in the process—all part of the comedy, according to De Niro.

“The comedy of this film has a certain flavor to it,” says De Niro who is forced to put his current love, Bebe (Sarandon), on the back burner to go along with the ruse. “It’s very dry and tongue-in-cheek in terms of dialogue and there are also some blatantly comic situations that Don finds himself in,” De Niro laughs.

Playing his sharp ex, Keaton says that working with her on-screen hubby, De Niro, was perfection. “There’s no one else like him, and in this story we had the chance to be very playful around the whole idea of marriage and divorce and the reality that just because your marriage ends doesn’t mean you ever completely let go of that affection you had for your ex . . . along with a whole lot of other tricky emotions.   In the process of pretending they’re back together, Don and Ellie figure out a few things about what they really want.”

In this video featurette, Susan Sarandon, Robert De Niro and cast talk about how great it is to work with an ensemble cast, and just how crazy this family gets planning a wedding. And, according to Sarandon, don’t try this at home!

The Big Wedding opens April 26th and stars Robert De Niro, Katherine Heigl, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, Topher Grace, Susan Sarandon, Robin Williams, Ben Barnes, Christine Ebersole, David Rasche, Patricia Rae, Ana Ayora.
