The silicone makeup sponge has taken the beauty world by storm, but should this new type of blender replace your beloved beauty sponge?
Beauty enthusiasts are always looking for new and innovative ways to make makeup look flawless on the skin. When makeup sponge applicators began to take a more “egg” shape form than the traditional chiseled block versions, it was all the rage and for good reason.
Why use a beauty blender? Unlike traditional makeup brushes, beauty blenders apply foundation more evenly on the skin and often have a pointed end to allow you to get in the hard to get crevices of your face. Blenders give you an overall even makeup application and natural look. No one wants to go out in public with foundation patches on their face, after all.
Just as these beauty blenders took new egg-like shapes and even hourglass forms, a new one has come along is turning the beauty industry upside down. It’s the new silicone beauty blender.
The silicone makeup sponge first took the world stage when Hong Kong-based Molly Cosmetics created the unusual beauty tool that seemed to address the problem of product waste absorbed by regular sponge-type counterparts.
For women, the silicone makeup sponge it looks like a tiny bra cutlet insert but apparently it does wonders when used as a makeup applicator.
It’s designed to blend your makeup seamlessly with zero product absorption on the actual sponge which most beauty blenders absorb too much of.
Cosmo put these silicon applicators to the test and found the results were impressive. Many pro MUA concur that you waste less products. It’s also easier to clean up, thus being more hygienic, and you get an airbrush-like finish.
Although there’s still debate on how they blend, may pro makeup artists and beauty bloggers are claiming it does an amazing job at giving that natural air brushed look we all strive to achieve.
