Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron‘s new movie “Long Shot” is the new comedy you didn’t know you needed to kick off the spring/summer season.
Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen together in a movie definitely seems like a Long Shot. But their new comedy, aptly named on all levels, opens this weekend and is getting lots of laughs.
In Long Shot, Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogen) is a gifted and free-spirited journalist with an affinity for trouble. Charlotte Field (Charlize Theron) is a politician and one of the most influential women in the world.
Smart, sophisticated, and accomplished, she’s a powerhouse diplomat with a talent for…well, mostly everything. The two have nothing in common, except that she was his babysitter and childhood crush. When Fred unexpectedly reconnects with Charlotte, he charms her with his self-deprecating humor and his memories of her youthful idealism.
As she prepares to make a run for the Presidency, Charlotte hires Fred as her speechwriter, much to the dismay of her trusted advisors. A fish out of water on Charlotte’s elite team, Fred is unprepared for her glamorous lifestyle in the limelight. However, sparks fly as their unmistakable chemistry leads to a round-the-world romance and a series of unexpected and dangerous incidents.
For Theron, doing a comedy is just what she needed. “I love it. I had done some darker stuff, but I had never done something this romantic. This was actually a lot of fun. I got to work with some really good, nice people and it was refreshing and now I am never going to be able to work with a–holes again,” she told Variety.

The movie opens in theatres May 3 and also stars O’Shea Jackson Jr., Andy Serkis, June Diane Raphael, Bob Odenkirk, and Alexander Skarsgård. The comedy is directed by Jonathan Levine.
