Preview: New Fitbit Versa Lite Health & Fitness Watch

The new Fitbit Versa Lite offers great health-tracking features at a more affordable price point.

Are you looking to get fit or get some motivation to get moving? Getting a health tracking watch is a perfect way to get started or to help improve your overall health and exercise goals.

Fitbit has certainly done its job providing some styles and iterations of the fit watch and now, you can get a fancy looking one that rivals the Apple watch, which is expensive.

Although the Fitbit Versa was launched last year, the company decided to pared-down a few features and offer a new version that does the job just the same.

This smartwatch looks identical to the original Versa, but it costs about $50 less. So why release a new version of the Versa when it was already affordable?

Fitbit is positioning itself as the company with smartwatches for everyone. Instead of making one main device with many features, like the Apple Watch, Fitbit is investing in numerous devices and styles with different feature sets at various price points. Basically, you have options that best suit your needs.

The Versa family has three devices: the $199 Versa Lite (new), the $249.95 Versa, and the $299.95 Versa Special Edition.

What’s the difference with the Versa Lite?

Not much, really. It won’t track floors climbed, swim laps (although it is water resistant up to 50 meters so it can mark swimming as an activity). While music controls exist on the Versa Lite, it doesn’t store music itself. The regular Versa, Versa Special Edition, and the Ionic smartwatches can all use Fitbit’s desktop program to download and play music when connected to a pair of Bluetooth headphones.

The Fitbit Versa Lite is a great option that won’t disappoint. You’ll find that using it as I have for about a week, that you won’t want to live without it!

Some of my favourite tracking items include my calorie intake, sleep hours, exercise and water intake. I also like to compete with myself and set goals to improve my workout performance. You can also compete with family and friends to help get your motivated—all from an insightful dashboard you can view on your phone.

All-in-all this watch looks stylish, is set at a great price point and is great for those who want to start monitoring their health and activity.

What’s even more fun is that you can change your watch bands to different style.
