Netflix’s The Crown Season 3 has released two photos of Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham Carter taking over the roles of The Queen and her vibrant sister Princess Margaret.
The first official photograph of British actress Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham Carter in their roles as Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret respectively, in the third season of the Netflix series The Crown Season 3 has been released.
Colman was announced in October as the new lead in the award-winning drama taking over the role of Queen Elizabeth from Claire Foy, who was phenomenal in the role.
Best known for her roles in “Broadchurch” Colman will be joined by Tobias Menzies who will pick up the role of Prince Philip from Matt Smith.
What to expect in The Crown Season 3
Seasons three and four are expected to portray the royal couple from the mid-1960s onwards. Colman is said to be “thrilled to be part of the Crown.”
“I was utterly gripped watching it, a proper ‘just one more’ feeling,” the British actress said, according to Netflix.
“I think Claire Foy is an absolute genius, she’s an incredibly hard act to follow, I’m basically going to re-watch every episode and copy her!”
Bonham Carter steps in for Vanessa Kirby, who played Princess Margaret in the first two seasons, and just landed an Emmy nomination as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
“I’m not sure which I’m more terrified about – doing justice to the real Princess Margaret or following in the shoes of Vanessa Kirby’s Princess Margaret,” Bonham Carter said. “The only thing I can guarantee is that I’ll be shorter [than Vanessa].”
So, how long do we have to wait until we see more of this royal drama? Netlix has yet to confirm when season 3 will air, but reports say it will be released in 2019.
