The powerful #Metoo and #TimesUp movement was the true winner at this year’s Golden Globe Awards along with the stars who made us laugh, cry and truly entertained us. Check out who took top honours.
Awards season has official kicked off!
Hollywood’s best and brightest gathered at the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards to celebrate 2017’s film and television. Hosted by Late Night’s Seth Meyers—who had the challenge of weaving in his comedic skills with the powerful #MeToo and the #TimesUp women’s equality movement—this season’s Globes were given to a wide variety of talent in the industry, and had some major firsts.
One of those “firsts” was Oprah Winfrey’s being honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, the first for a black African American woman. Winfrey, was definitely the highlight of the #Metoo movement with her powerful and inspiring speech on freedom of the press, gender equality and sexual harassment.
Showing solidarity all the women who attended the event wore black to show support for the movement.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Big Little Lies tied for the most awards of the night, while LadyBird and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri took top Best Movie honours.
