On World’s Ocean’s Day Lush Cosmetics is launching its popular Shark Fin Soap to honour filmmaker, environmentalist and shark advocate, Rob Stewart.
In honour of Toronto filmmaker, Rob Stewart, who highlighted the plight of sharks in his world renowned movie Sharkwater, Lush Cosmetics is releasing its Shark Fin Soap to bring awareness to sharks and the oceans.
The limited edition Shark Fin soap ($5.95), a vegan soap, made with cruelty-free ingredients like softening Arame seaweed, exfoliating fine sea salt and zesty lime oil, comes topped with a miniature paper shark fin. The soap will be available for purchase online and in Lush stores across North America until the funding goal is reached.
According to Lush, 100% of the sales price from Shark Fin soap will go towards furthering Stewart’s trailblazing ocean conservation efforts with the launch of a new foundation supporting the completion of Sharkwater: Extinction, a film of Stewart’s that was still in production at the time of his death earlier this year in Florida.
Sharkwater: Extinction follows Stewart’s quest to expose the multi-billion dollar industries that continue to hunt sharks to the point of extinction.
“Over the past 10 years, Lush and Stewart, have partnered on many projects focusing on shark protection and ocean conservation, educating and raising almost $500,000 for various charitable organizations. With Stewart’s passing, Lush will continue his vision for conserving ocean health, such as banning the importation of shark fins (something Stewart had long supported), in order to raise awareness about the issues and the possible solutions that exist,” Lush said in a press statement.
