This anti-cellulite vacuum treatment from Europe is designed to tone the skin, eliminate toxins & and reduce the appearance of cellulite. How does it work?
Many women have those dreaded cellulite pockets that just won’t go away with diet and exercise. Why are they so stubborn? The answer is simple: genetics and the way your body stores fat. But mainly, cellulite is the result of tough, connective tissue that fat pockets squeeze into causing a “dimpling” effect. Once these fat pockets form it’s hard for these areas to drain out properly because they’re packed in so tight. Can we help release these tough tissues that hold these fat pockets hostage? The Starvac Vacuum Therapy treatment claims you can.
Popular in France and Europe, this treatment, introduced to North America by Dr. Marina Vashkevich of Med V Spa in Toronto, is fairly new and becoming extremely popular for a variety of health benefits. Essentially, Dr. Vashkevich tells me during a consultation that Starvac is a vacuum massage cellulite removal treatment that combines vacuum suction massage with a rolling technique to target cellulite by improving lymphatic drainage and circulation.
With this treatment, you’ll experience two different sensations, one, the feel of suction (think of those famous “cupping” cups but attached to a machine) and firm rollers gliding over your skin. Although you may target certain areas, a full treatment, which lasts about 45 minutes, begins from the ankles to the arms and back area in order to encourage the circulation flow towards the heart area.
The suction and rolling massage that is created by the vacuum is said to shake and loosen the connective tissue strands, helping to release the trapped fat.
When I went to test out the treatment at Med V Spa, I found it to be a relaxing experience. The nurse who performed my treatment first applied skin oil so the cups and rollers would glide effortless. The treatment does not hurt, however, some areas may be more tender than other spots (the suction level can be adjusted). The treatment is a constant motion of gliding these cups and rollers in an upward motion (towards the heart) to promote circulation. Mine began with legs, buttocks, mid-section and arms. It was then repeated while lying on my stomach to include the back area. You can also customize your treatment to target the area of your choice. Once I was done, I was instructed to drink a few glasses of water to help my body flush out toxins.
So what happens to the fat? In addition to the effects of the suction, the device generates heat, which causes breakdown of fat while stretching the connective tissue vertically in order to help improve circulation and oxygen and blood flow within the skin capillaries. Hello, smoother skin! The number of recommended treatments is 10 to 15 to see results.
The Starvac Vacuum Therapy treatment is something I would recommend because of the variety of health benefits it offers. It not only helps to reduce cellulite, it can also improve skin elasticity and, by jump-starting your lymphatic drainage system, eliminate toxins, improve oxygen supply and stimulate blood flow.
