Emma Watson, star of Beauty and the Beast, recently shared what’s in her makeup bag, her favourite products and why it’s ok to not be 100% organic.
The actress recently shared her beauty routine and favourite products while promoting her new movie Beauty and the Beast. On the list: natural, organic and keeping her freckles!
Keeping it natural and organic:
“Recently I’ve become super interested in sustainability and transparency and understanding what I’m putting on my face and on my body,” she told Into the Gloss. “It’s been a fun little mission to see how far I can go with it…” she writes. “Can I put together a hair and makeup look with completely organic products? I needed to figure out if it was achievable or not. You can’t talk the talk if you don’t walk the walk. So that’s what I’ve been discovering over the past couple of years. Most of my routine keeps to an 80/20 philosophy because it’s very difficult to be a complete purist, especially when working in the film industry. You can end up driving yourself a bit mad and make it more stressful than it should be. Sometimes you just need a mascara to be waterproof and that’s OK.”
Keeping her natural beauty for her role in the upcoming live-action tale Beauty and the Beast:
“There are so many young girls who are going through puberty who really hate having them, so I felt the need to say that I have them and that I think the look of natural skin is beautiful,” she writes.
Some of her favourite products:
Natural deodorants: Agent Nateur NO. 3 roll-on, Weleda Sage Deodorant spray, and Soapwalla’s Deodorant Cream.
Mason Pearson Brush
“I have a pink one, and I bought a travel-size one for my little sister recently as well. They last a lifetime,” she tells Marie Claire.
RMS ‘Un’ Cover-Up Concealer and Powder
“That’s an amazing brand—I’m pretty obsessed with RMS.”
Lancôme Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover
“After the red carpet or a shoot, this removes makeup without me having to scrub my eyes, which is horrible.”
MV Organics Moisturiser
“I have the most unbelievably sensitive skin in the world, so I love this moisturizer. It’s extra hydrating and smells of roses, which is heaven.”
Lancôme Rouge in Love Lipsticks
“I never used to be a ‘lipstick person’ because I always felt like I would screw it up, but these go on really light and easy.”
The Body Shop Red Pomegranate Cheek and Lip Stain
“It’s not certified organic or anything, but they do a ton of awesome work for the environment and fair trade,” she tells Into the Gloss.
DHC Mascara
“The thing is, I really, really hate using harsh makeup removers, especially around my eyes. They sting and make my eyes water and don’t feel good to me. But the DHC mascara only comes off in warm water. So I use it on films because if I’m in a tank or it’s raining, then the mascara doesn’t run because it won’t move in cold water.”
C.O Bigelow Apothecary Cold and Flu Soak
With eucalyptus and peppermint and bark and Echinacea and ginger Watson says it makes you feel energized and if you’re sick it helps clear your sinuses.
Lola’s Apothecary Milk Bath
Watson loves to take baths and takes at least one a day. She finds this product with rose petals luxurious for her skin that’s inspired by Cleopatra.
French Girl Organics Sea Polish
Watson swears by this product for it’s exfoliating properties.
You can catch Emma Watson in the up-coming live-action tale of Beauty and the Beast on Friday, March 17.
