Are you ready for more campy fun in the town of Twin Peaks? Well you won’t have to wait too long. Plus, Naomi Watts joins the cast!
Currently in production, Twin Peaks is written and produced by original series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost and will be directed entirely by Lynch.
While the full mystery awaits, fans can expect many familiar faces, including Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee Kyle MacLachlan, who reprises his role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper.
In new news, it has just been announced that Naomi Watts is the latest big name to join David Lynch’s upcoming new revival of his 1990 supernatural mystery series Twin Peaks.
According to Deadline.com, Tom Sizmore has also joined the show, which is set to air in 2017. Lynch, who is directing the new Twin Peaks is also said to be reprising his recurring role from the original series as FBI Regional Bureau.
Watts and Sizemore are just two exciting additions to a great cast including Laura Dern, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Amanda Seyfried.
Widely considered one of the most groundbreaking and influential broadcast series of all time, the original Twin Peaks followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered. The town’s sheriff welcomed the help of FBI agent Dale Cooper (MacLachlan), who came to town to investigate the case. As Cooper conducted his search for Laura’s killer, the town’s secrets were gradually exposed. The mystery that ensued set off an eerie chain of events that plunged the inhabitants of Twin Peaks into a darker examination of their very existence.
Plot details of the new show are under wraps. But in true Twin Peaks form, we’re sure we can expect some murder mystery mayhem in a sleepy town that holds dark secrets.
Twin Peaks is set to air in 2017 on Showtime. Catch a first sneak peek below!
