KRISTEN STEWART & JESSE EISENBERG TALK ABOUT THEIR STONER COMEDY “AMERICAN ULTRA”
Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg team up once again for the mash-up summer comedy, “American Ultra.”
If the chemistry works, why mess with it? According to Kristen Stewart, working with her co-star Jesse Eisenberg on the genre-bending movie American Ultra, was a no-brainer. In fact, she says she couldn’t have done it without him.
Stewart says she felt comfortable teaming up Eisenberg after the friendship they built while filming Adventureland.
“It was such a mishmash of genres and such, and such a strange tone I knew that I needed someone really intelligent to sort of lead the way and keep them together and cohesive,” said Stewart on taking the role. “I had worked with him before and I knew that we could do something funny and sweet and kinda scary.”
In American Ultra, a small-town stoner named Mike Howell (Eisenberg) spends most of his time getting high and writing a graphic novel about a superhero monkey. What Mike doesn’t know is that he was trained by the CIA to be a lethal killing machine. When the agency targets him for termination, his former handler activates his latent skills, turning the mild-mannered slacker into a deadly weapon. Now, the utterly surprised Mike must use his newfound abilities to save himself and his girlfriend from getting wasted.
Watch what Stewart & Eisenberg say about working together and why their comedy is different from what you’ve seen.
