Oscar-winning sensation Julianne Moore talks about her role as a trouble Hollywood star in David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars movie.
She may have stunned everyone with her performance as a woman with early on-set alzheimer’s disease in her oscar-winning role in Still Alice, but it doesn’t stop there. Julianne Moore continues to amaze us with her performance as Havana Segrand in David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars movie, which made its debut during the Toronto International Film Festival last fall.
“It’s a commentary on how we live our lives today, but one refracted through the lens of celebrity,” Moore says of the story, which is a darkly comic tour into the heart of a Hollywood family chasing celebrity, one another and the relentless ghosts of their pasts. “It’s really more about human nature, about what people want out of the short span of life we have and how blind we are to our mortality.”
Here, Moore talks about the unique balance of the script, written by Bruce Wagner, and playing a troubled Hollywood star.
Maps to the Stars opens February 27 and stars Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, Olivia Williams, Evan Bird, Sarah Gadon, Niamh Wilson, Dawn Greenhalgh with John Cusack and Robert Pattinson.
