What is alkaline water? Read the benefits of it, how to make it, and how you can be drinking your way to a healthier, new you. 

To kick off the New Year right,  we’re starting off by making small, healthy choices. Along with a healthy, clean diet, drinking water that is alkaline is said to be beneficial for your body’s healthy.

Water that is alkaline has antioxidant properties that help by fighting free radicals that form in your body. These free radicals can cause pre-mature aging and other types of conditions. Alkaline water is said to have anti-aging and anti-diseases properties. It also helps to cleanse the organs, particularly the colon, where fecal matter can become poisonous to the body.

By drinking it regularly, it’s said that alkaline water helps you become more resistant to stomach viruses, flu’s and common colds. And for those who are particularly focused on their skin, alkaline water helps with detoxifying the skin making it look smoother and more youthful.

Here, we’ve provided you with a recipe for alkaline water, that can easily be made at home.


How to make Alkaline Water:

2-litres of filtered water

1 organic lemon, washed and cut into eight pieces

1 teaspoon of Himalayan salt


Fill your jar with water and add the slices of lemon. Do not squeeze them! Just put them in whole. Add 1 teaspoon of the Himalayan salt and cover. Let sit overnight, at least 8 hours at room temperature.

Drink water on an empty stomach upon waking up in the morning. If sealed tight, it can last in your fridge for a few days.
