WHO DO THE STARS LIKE? THE SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARD NOMINATIONS ARE IN!
Here we go! Awards season is now kicking into full gear with the Screen Actors Guild Awards Nomination. Find out who has been nominated and what the SAG awards mean going forward.
The 2015 SAG nods were revealed in a live telecast featuring actor Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars) and actress Eva Longoria.
The nominees are selected by 4,200 SAG members each year, including 2,100 members who select honorees in film, and the other half in television. The selection process for each category are voted on by all 4,200 members.
Among the notable stars nominated this year are Reese Witherspoon for Outstanding Actress for Wild and Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), Steve Carell (Foxcatcher), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) and Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything), who battle it out for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture. In TV, Claire Daines (Homeland), Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey (True Detective), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) and Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire) lead in their respective Outstanding Drama Series categories.
The SAG awards will be held on Sunday, Jan. 25, at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium.

So what impact do these first major award nods for the new year mean? Since these nominations, and awards, are largely made up by the folks who are most likely represented in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, chances are they’ll feel the same way when it comes to voting for the Oscars. The same peers are also part of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, which determines the Emmy nominees. So they are a good indication of how Hollywood is feeling, and who they are championing, when it comes to giving out the highest acting honours of the season.
