Green with envy! Ever since I began incorporating Kimberly Snyder’s “Glowing Green Smoothie” into my diet, my health and body has changed. In her new book, The Beauty Detox Foods, Snyder takes things a step further by giving you the scoop on the top foods that will detox you on the inside, and beautify you on the outside.

In her bestselling book, The Beauty Detox Solution, Kimberly Snyder, C.N., (one of Hollywood’s top celebrity nutritionists whose clients include Drew Barrymore and Fergie) shared her groundbreaking food cleanse program that keeps her A-list clientele in red-carpet shape and in optimal health.

But can you really transform and regenerate your body with food? According to Snyder, yes, you can. She gives a step-by-step look into how your digestive system really works and how imperative it is to your health on the inside and how you look on the outside. Before you recount everything you’ve been told, it’s all about digestion folks, and the sludge that accumulates in your system that is effecting your heath, energy levels and, yes, hindering you’re potential weight loss goals.

I continue to incorporate Snyder’s advice in my daily eating regimen but one thing  for sure that has stuck with me, is drinking her Glowing Green Smoothie (GGS) on a daily basis. Although her first book is life-changing and extremely informative on your health and why things happen they way they do, the eating program and recipes lacked variation.

So I was excited to hear the news that Snyder was developing a new book, The Beauty Detox Foods (Harlequin), which takes things a step further from her first book by giving you the top 50 beauty foods that will make you more beautiful from the inside out and why.

Snyder’s main principle includes eating light morning and afternoon and to save your heavier meal for dinnertime. I’m sure you’re now thinking “this is not what I’ve been told to do?” But trust me, it makes sense.

Her explanation is simple: this way of eating allows your body time to digest your food so that nothing gets clogged up in your intestines. “Detoxing yourself by getting rid of old waste is the key to allowing your digestion to function optimally. When you loosen the toxic sludge from your system, your energy will automatically increase because your body will be able to perform digestive and other functions efficiently and with much less effort,” Snyder says in Beauty Detox Foods.  “Thanks to that renewed energy, you will also lose weight and look years (or even decades) younger. Your skin will radiate and your hair will grow in with vibrant body and a healthy sheen.”

Kimberly-Snyder-detoxfoodsSnyder also isn’t preachy as she advises carnivores to simply cut their animal protein intake to about once or twice per week (not a bad request). But what most people may have a hard time with is dairy. Snyder also advocates against eating dairy and goes into detail as to why it’s actually not beneficial to our health. It makes you ponder why humans are the only animal on the planet to ingest animal milk.

“The best thing you can do to improve your overall health and beauty is to fill your diet with whole, unrefined plant foods,” Snyder continues. “To keep your body running efficiently, greens are one of the most important food groups. Green vegetables are among the most nutrient-dense of all foods and are full of alkaline minerals, including calcium, chlorophyll and amino acids. They make up your key Beauty Foods that regenerate and purify your cells.”

Gorilla-Wraps-600With over 85 recipes you can easily incorporate many vegetarian, plant-based meals in a week. Surprisingly, I loved her Raw Gorilla Tacos (pictured). So delicious and healthy, I swear I could actually feel my body being energized as I ate them! It’s no wonder Snyder’s philosophy centers on energy. “One of the most important assets you have in your quest for beauty is energy,” Snyder says. “Energy is a key factor in your ability to shed weight easily and permanently, achieve great health and look your most beautiful. Energy regenerates your liver and other tissue cells, flushes toxic waste from the body, helps maintain your ideal weight, keeps your skin’s collagen smooth and your hair healthy, and keeps blood from stagnating into dark under-eye circles. The more energy you have, the better you feel and the more beautiful you become.”
