Sookie launches a fang vs. faerie war and Bill falls seriously deep into nest behaviour falling under Lilith’s spell—a great set-up for the season finale.

True Blood, Season Five, Episode 11, “Sunset”—This season all roads lead to the Vampire Authorities hellhole. You can check out, but you never really leave, but on last night’s episode, Eric makes a break for it, bringing Nora with him. It seems that seeing Goderich had a strong effect on Nora who finally saw what Lilith, the Vampire god, was really all about, destruction. So for those who thought Bill was possibly faking, think again. As Pam explains it, Bill and the rest of them are “nesting” —a situation where vampires spend too much time with their own kind makes them go crazy.

Bill now thinks he’s the chosen one, and when he finds out from Kibwe that Lilith has told him that he’s the chosen one, Bill decapitates him. Salome later gets the same message from Lilith, which will no doubt create a standoff between them in the season finale. This Lilith has a really sick sense of humor!

Jessica got out too, but only for a day and was caught at Fangtasia by a VA member out looking for her progeny, Elijah, the vampire dude Tara killed. But oddly, Pam takes the rap for Tara and she’s arrested and brought into the authority where she has a funny exchange with Sam Merlotte, who is there with Luna trying to find her daughter Emma who is in wolf pup form. Does this mean Eric has to go back for Pam?

Things heated up with Andy. Gosh darn it, just when he’s shaken hands with Holly’s sons promising them that he’ll make their mamma happy, in walks Maurella and her huge one-week old full term pregnant belly. Poor Andy, he can never get a break. Maurella tells him if he doesn’t honor their pact, a war will be waged.

While Jessica was out of Bill’s clutches, she managed to warn Jason that Russell was on his way for Sookie and other faeries. Sookie then hatches a plan with the Bon Temps faerie clan and their elder leader, to fight Russell. This elder is a bit odd and even a bit too cheeseball for True Blood, but trying to look past her weird dancing and constant game of “For or Against” (Are you for or against Boyz to Men? And so forth), she revealed that the reason why Sookie is attracted to vamps is because of that pact her ancestor made with Warlow.

When Russell does arrive with Steve and Jason, the vamps are in a state of bliss smelling the faeries. The Elder changes the game plan and when she decides to use her turbo-charged faerie light to stop Russell, he bites her and sucks her dry, ending the episode with Russell able to see all of the faeries in their hidden club.

Oh, and did I mention that not much happened with Alcide, other than fighting off a few baby vamps and taking his shirt off again? It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.

Hopefully, all will make sense on the final episode set to air Sunday, August 26 at 9 p.m. on HBO and HBO Canada.
