Kate Beckinsale talks about kicking Colin Farrell’s butt in their new action movie Total Recall.

When it comes to kicking butt on the big screen, Kate Beckinsale is no stranger to doing her own fight scenes. This time around, in the upcoming reboot movie Total Recall, co-starring Colin Farrell, Beckinsale puts her skills to the test by not only fighting Farrell but also Jessica Biel.

“I’ve never played a bad guy before. I’ve always been on the side of truth and justice,” Beckinsale said while doing press.  “But the thing is, my character thinks she ison the side of truth and justice. That’s the great thing about this movie – you never know who’s on the right side. Also, there’s a slightly maniacal side of her – she’s slightly out of control, and that’s always fun for an actor to play.”

 

Beckinsale also goes one-on-one with Jessica Biel in the movie, and although the pair deliver one of the best girl fight scenes, Beckinsale was concerned about accidentally injuring her. “When it came to the actual hour of it, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, am I gonna be the person who breaks Jessica Biel’s nose?” Becksinsale admits. “I’ve only really fought with stuntmen and hairy werewolves before. I think what’s dangerous about being an actor who does action movies is you think, ‘Well, I can totally handle myself now.’ But if my opponent didn’t know the other half of the routine, I don’t know how well I’d do. Beckinsale adds that she’s “very good at firing a gun without blinking, which is unusual. That’s why so many action characters have to wear sunglasses during shoot-out scenes. That’s my party trick.”

Total Recall opens Friday, Augusst 3 and stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston and Bill Nighy.
