Beauty News—Have you noticed a difference in your hair lately? It may not be as full as it was years ago. For some women, thinning hair has become a problem and something they feel too embarrassed to talk about. At a recent L’Oreal Paris event, this embarrassing topic was brought to light, and some startling facts were revealed concerning women and hair loss.

When we think of hair loss or thinning hair we often associate with men. But according to Dr. Charles Lynde, a dermotologist at the Lynde Centre in Markham, “Forty-nine per cent of Canadian women will experience hair loss by age 35.” It’s a startling fact but if you’re experiencing these issues, you’re not alone.

Eric Del Monaco, L’Oreal Paris Official Hair Artist and Colourist, says that more and more, he’s hearing about this problem from women in the salon. “You would expect women in their 60’s and 70’s to have this problem but not women in their 30’s,” Del Monaco says. “It’s just not expected.”

Dr. Lynde claims that hair loss or thinning is attributed to a different number of factors that may include heredity, medical conditions, medication and birth control pills, diet and vitamin deficiency, stress and shock, childbirth and menopause.

In response to this need, L’Oreal Paris has created a new hair care system called Argeinine Resist X3 that gets right to the root of the matter. It’s the first triple action formula that not only strengthens and moisturizes the hair with arginine, an amino acid essential to hair growth, but also nourishes the root, reinforcing it and restructuring it so that it becomes more resistant to breakage. “Arginine is naturally found in keratin,” explains Tiffany Uman, L’Oreal Paris, Haircare Marketing Manager. “It has the power to attract moisture and attracts itself to weakened strands. Without arginine, the bulb does not produce hair so hair stops growing.”

• Upon first application, hair fall is reduced by 64%

• After three weeks hair is 124% more resistant

• Overall, 95% of women using Arginine Resist X3 saw a difference
